Abstract
"The purpose of this essay is to describe the social characteristics of the American Jews from their arrival through their three hundred years of life in the United States. By 'social characteristics' we refer to such things as the numbers of Jews, their geographic distribution, occupations, income, education, style of life, health, and relations with their neighbors."
