Abstract

Miriam Schapiro was a major figure in the feminist art movement. An activist advocating for equal respect and recognition for women artists, she incorporated into her art the crafts and domestic creations, that were typically dismissed as women's work. She collaborated with Judy Chicago on the Feminist Art Project and the collaborative feminist art space, Womanhouse.
