Abstract

Larry David co-created (with Jerry Seinfeld) the television hit series, "Seinfeld," and created and writes and stars in the long-running HBO series, "Curb Your Enthusiasm." In this article, Steven Davidson argues that "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is a frankly and quintessentially Jewish show. He argues that its humor is an outgrowth of the tradition of Jewish humor in the United States. It is, he writes, the "culmination of decades of Jewish-American humor borne out of Yiddish theater, and has matured through the likes of Woody Allen and Mel Brooks."
