Abstract:
An article about Irving Abella, Professor Emeritus at York University and eminent historian. Written to honor Abella on his 89th birthday, discusses his many notable achievements, his membership in the Order of Canada, his election as a Fellow to the Royal Society of Canada and the recognition he received from Queen Elizabeth II. He received these honors for the significance of his work as a historian. He did pioneering scholarly work on Jewish studies in Canada, antisemitism in Canada and the Canadian labor movement.
