Abstract:
An article about folksinger, Steve Goodman. The article discusses Goodman's work, and what the author describes as his "perspicacious songwriting, which he injected with a deft sense of humor and keen observations about the human condition..." His most famous song is "City of New Orleans," which was made popular by both Arlo Guthrie and Willie Nelson. Goodman died of leukemia in 1984 at the age of 36. Willie Nelson's recording of "City of New Orleans" appeared later that year and resulted in Goodman's being posthumously awarded the Grammy for Best County Song. The Rolling Stone article includes a video of Goodman performing that song. Click on the link to read the article.
