Abstract

Part of Haaretz's "This Day in Jewish History" series, this article discusses the life, career and formal conversion to Judaism of the African-American entertainer, Sammy Davis Jr. The article notes that while Davis was recovering in the hospital from injuries sustained in a car accident, performer Eddie Cantor spoke to him about the similarities between black and Jewish culture.
