Abstract

Susan Faludi, in an article for the New Yorker Magazine, writes about Shulameth Firestone, her work and her pivotal role in founding the radical feminist movement of the late 1960s and 1970s. The article begins with a description of her solitary death, which stood in sharp contrast to the time "when she was at the epicenter of the radical-feminist movement, surrounded by some of the same women who, a month after her death, gathered in St. Mark’s Church In-the-Bowery, to pay their respects."
