Abstract

Founded as a national organization in 1900,originally as the Workmen's Circle (Der Arbeiter Ring in Yiddish), its mission was to support the needs of the flood of Jewish Immigrants from Eastern Europe. The Workmen's Circle provided educational and cultural programs, and vigorously supported the fight for fair labor practices. The Worker's Circle continues to offer a wide range of educational and cultural programs--including instruction in the Yiddish language--and retains its commitment to social justice.
